Goodbye Africa!

I am writing my last blog entry in Africa and I am experiencing a great range of emotions. I have really enjoyed exploring Southern Africa and this area will definitely always have a place in my heart. My last week in South Africa have been wonderful. From East London I took a bus to a beautiful coastal town called Coffee Bay. There were endless rolling hills and bright teal and green painted huts scattered all about. I stayed in a backpackers place called the Coffee Shack for 3 days and I never wanted to leave. I took a 3 hour hike to a crazy feature called "Hole-in-the-wall" (see above). We were able to swim up to the rocks along the edge and jump into the hole as a big wave came through. The next day I did some exhilarating cliff jumping into a river and explored some wild caves hidden next to the ocean. I had planned on going surfing at some point, but I had heard of 2 fatal shark attacks over the last couple months just one town over so I decided against it. I rather enjoy having all of my appendages. The staff was really nice at the Coffee Shack and the food was delicious. They also threw a Mascarade on Tuesday night and all of the guests got really into the theme. I made a mask of a Tiger! Kate and I made a one night stop at a very jungle-like backpackers in Umzumbe. The last 3 days of my trip I've been staying with a very nice and generous family living just South of Durban. We met them in Kasane in Botswana and they offered to house us if we were ever in the area. They have given us a nice tour of the city and even took us to the Aquarium where we saw a dolphin show and some huge, scary sharks. As my journey comes to a close, I want to thank everyone for reading my blog and following along on my adventures in Africa. I am sad to leave this fascinating continent but I am sure that I will be back in the future. These past four months have changed my perceptions of Africa and even the world. I hope to explore more areas of our crazy earth when the time is right and I encourage everyone to do so as well. Love you all, I can't wait to see you in person, and as they say in South Africa, Cheers!
